Dupla Marin Cube Skimmer 1500, for 900-1000LProtein skimmers are among the most important technical devices in a modern marine aquarium. Protein skimmers have the important task of removing from the water cycle mainly organic waste, in the form of uric acids, peptides and protein compounds, before these are converted by biological degradation processes into inorganic substances (e.g. nitrogen nitrate). Through food, organic waste, but also dead algae and animals, the marine aquarium is constantly enriched with protein compounds. Since a large part of these compounds is degraded by nitrification, which is faster than denitrification, nitrate is enriched when the load is high. The protein skimmer removes the proteins (protein compounds) from the water before they can be broken down by bacteria. This reduces a nitrate increase and permanently relieves and clarifies the aquarium water. Protein skimming works by allowing the electrically charged protein molecules to adhere to air bubbles and be removed as foam (in the foam cup as a brown liquid, adsorbate). Since the protein skimmer removes not only organic waste from the aquarium, but also substances important for corals, e.g. amino acids, a protein skimmer should be adapted to the aquarium by its performance and not oversized.Cube skimmers are ultra-compact cone protein skimmers with an outstanding performance. Cube skimmers operate on the counter-current principle. This design, in which air and water flow counter-currently, is the most efficient way of skimming. The modification of the skimmer pumps (disperser principle by needle wheel) allows an extremely fine bubbled air and water mixture, which leads to an extremely efficient skimmer performance. The conical design of the Cube Skimmer, additionally combined by the effective turbulence reducing air distribution chamber, results in an excellent fine foam pattern with high flotate formation at the same time. With all Cube Skimmers, the fine regulation can be precisely adjusted via an adjustment screw of the water level in the skimmer chamber and can thus be perfectly matched to the water level in the filter basin or filter sump. With the Cube Skimmer CS500 / 900 / 1.500 the skimmer pumps can be regulated electronically in steps and can thus be adapted to changing load situations in the aquarium at any time. The brushless (Brushless Technology) 6-pole synchronous motors used for this purpose are characterized by extremely quiet running and can be easily regulated to different power levels by the controller. The use of ceramic axles and the use of ceramic bearings increases the life of the pumps and motors, ensures excellent smoothness and prevents the formation of rust due to the salt water.Cube skimmers are not suitable for external connection to a filter basin / filter sump. Cube skimmers can be placed directly in the filter basin / filter sump. DC controlled Cube Skimmer is available in three different versions.
